536 Main St, Woodland, CA, United States

DESCRIPTION

Designed by William H. Weeks, a 19th and 20th Century California architect known for his use of Greek Revival neoclassical design, 536-540 Main was originally built in 1873 for the Bank of Woodland, the city’s first bank. The building originally had a third story, which was removed around 1915, along with window hoods and cornice brackets that had originally decorated the building.  The building was remodeled in 2013-14, and divided into two retail spaces on the first floor, with four apartments on the second floor. Current tenants include Embellish Home Decor and House of Shah Restaurant.

536-540 Main is located on the southwest corner of First and Main Streets in the heart of the Downtown Woodland Historic District, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is renowned for being one of the most admired historic structures in the city.
